SUNDAY 26TH OF OCTOBER 2014
This year's Irish Fest in Bahrain was bigger than ever with more teams and social attendees than ever before. Over 2500 people drank and partied the night away at Bahrain Rugby club on Friday 24th Oct. ZU2 (Europe's #1 U2 tribute band) rocked the place from 9pm to 11pm. Then Paddyman (featuring Mikie O'Shea on fiddle) kept the show going till 2.30am. The most crowd pleasing songs were Sean South from Garryowen as well as some other rebel favourites like the Celtic Symphony. And then the cheeky songs began - like Ride in a tractor & Horse Outside! The bar stopped serving at 5am.
At 2pm on Saturday (in JJs Irish Bar) the session started again with Paddyman (Mikie O'Shea went AWOL!) doing a solo show to a packed out pub. The song "Best Pub Party in the world" was sung for the first time & there was no doubt among all there that it certainly was! GAA officials who were flown in from Ireland for the event stated that they'd "never seen the likes of this craic & music before. "tis like Lisdoonvarna in the Middle East!" Congratulations to JK, Joe Melia and the Bahrain Irish organising committee on a savage event. Bring on Next Year!
